Review of 'Offerings To The Hunger'

by John Doe of Dark Wave Magazine

7 tracks, black-metal with Viking-metal influences

Born in 1997, the band from Holland started as a 4 band members and played black-metal with dark-metal touches. Shortly after the release of their first demo in 1997, a new member (keyboards) joined the band to give others atmospheres to the music, more Viking-metal aspects. Finally, Fenris releases its debut CD for a small label from Holland. This CD is between black-metal and Viking-metal but isn't a full Viking-metal album like those from Enslaved, Mithotyn or Borknagar. No, the music is more black-metal, more influenced by earlier Immortal but the Viking-metal influences are more present than the Norwegian band in the keyboards and in some riffs. A good debut CD with really long songs, sometimes maybe too long but the whole of the CD is really interesting.
